Many MU employees have expressed anger at Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recent move towards some employees at this club.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is busy preparing to cut 250 jobs at Old Trafford. According to The Mirror, employees at MU were informed about the upcoming job cuts, some were even forced to withdraw from the pre-season tour in the US at the last minute. The impending job cuts are making employees feel “angry and hurt” as well as low morale at MU ahead of the new season.
It should be seen that Ratcliffe wants to restructure and reduce costs to operate more sustainably. However, staff believe that MU’s poor player recruitment in recent years is more to blame for the club wasting money than loyal staff. The “Red Devils” have spent a lot of money on players who have not impressed, including large sums of money spent to bring in Antony, Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek.
Chief executive Collette Roche has tried to explain why 250 jobs need to be cut at Old Trafford. “Significant transformation is needed to meet the challenges we face to succeed on and off the field. We believe that greater efficiency can lead to better results. The cost review has identified non-essential activities that we can stop, and therefore we believe we need to streamline further,” Collette added. However, Collette later also faced criticism from MU staff.
