The list of the 10 highest paid players in the Premier League has just been released by the Capology website, with Man City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne taking the top spot.
It was thought that Kevin De Bruyne had reached a personal agreement with Al Ittihad Club, and was getting closer to leaving Man City in the summer of 2024. However, De Bruyne suddenly “turned around” to continue staying at Man City. Coach Pep Guardiola himself spoke up to confirm that the veteran Belgian midfielder is still in his new season plans, and he will stay at least until the end of the 2024/25 season. It was also Kevin De Bruyne who stunned many when he became the highest paid player in England’s top flight.
According to Capology, Kevin De Bruyne receives a basic annual salary of £20.8 million at Man City. The midfielder’s team-mate Erling Haaland is second in the table, earning £19.5m a year. City’s modest £51m transfer fee for the striker in 2022 means they can afford to pay Haaland a hefty salary.
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is third on £18.2m a year, the same as Manchester United midfielder Casemiro. Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling is fifth on £16.9m a season, the same as Romelu Lukaku, who has not played for Chelsea since 2022 due to loan spells at Inter Milan and Roma. Manchester City stars Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva are both thought to earn £15.6m a year, the same as Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
Rounding out the top 10 is Kai Havertz, who is paid £14.56m a year after moving from Chelsea to Arsenal last summer. It’s fair to say that many fans can’t believe Havertz is on the list. “Havertz is Arsenal’s highest paid player?! I’m shocked, I never knew,” one fan wrote on X.
