Chelsea has finalized a squad list of 28 stars to go on a tour in the summer of 2024. Notably, midfielder Chalobah has to stay in London, England.
Chelsea has just announced a squad of 28 players for a tour to the US before the new season. According to the schedule, Chelsea will face Wrexham in their first summer friendly match in Santa Clara on Thursday, July 25.
After that, the Blues will face Celtic, Club America, Man City and Real Madrid. When returning to London, the Blues will play their last summer friendly by hosting Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge on August 11, a week before Manchester City’s visit in the opening match of the 2024/25 Premier League.
This is a very important summer for Enzo Maresca and the team because the new coach wants to have an impressive start after replacing Mauricio Pochettino on the Chelsea hot seat.
Maresca’s squad for the summer tour has a good mix of youth and experience. The squad also includes players recruited by Chelsea this summer.
The likes of Tosin Adarabioyo and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall became part of the squad following their moves from Fulham and Leicester City. Along with them, two names Marc Guiu and Renato Veiga were also present.
Notably, there is no place for Trevoh Chalobah, which raises doubts about the centre-back’s future at the club. Chalobah can play well in two roles: center back and right back, but because Maresca owns too many defensive players such as Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi, Tosin Adarabioyo… the star born in 1999 fell out of favor. Currently, the Blues are also selling Chalobah.
Other notable absentees include Omari Kellyman, Alfie Gilchrist, Bashir Humphreys, Cesare Casadei, David Datro Fofana, Deivid Washington and Djordje Petrovic. Chelsea is currently busy selling players who are no longer suitable for them.
Players who have been on international duty for EURO and Copa America, including Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella, will be present in the next stage after the end of the compensation break.
